Spiritual Warfare: The 21st Decade. By

Father Randall begins by stating that he is
not trying to add another decade to the Rosary
but is rather suggesting that the faithful
Catholic meditate on the spiritual warfare that
underlies each decade of the Rosary. The book is
a brief history of spiritual warfare in
Scripture, in the Church, and in our times. An
enlightening look at what is going on behind the
scenes in today's culture.
Edward R. Cattalozzi, who wrote the
introduction to Spiritual Warfare: The 21st
Decade, notes that "As a secularist, I
thought that human beings had temporary
spiritual experiences. On the other hand, I have
come to believe that humans are spiritual beings

What's really going on, Father Randall
asserts, is continual spiritual warfare of the
cleverest kind. "We are confirmed as soldiers in
an army t take back this world with Jesus, and
we have vicious enemies attempting to thwart
this attempt," Father Randall succinctly notes.
"Satan doesn't work principally in the ways one
might expect; for example through psychics,
astrology, tarot cards, possession. He's much
more clever than that."
While a very high percentage of people
believe in the existence of God, "less than 50%
believe in the reality of Satan," but the Popes
have continually reaffirmed what Scripture
teaches--namely that Satan is real, alive, and
well in this world.
Since many people are not able to discern
between spirits, Father Randall gives many
examples of how Satan works. He operates not
only through lies, thefts, and murders but also
in dividing and conquering Christians, in
distracting them from Christ, and in leading
them off the path toward God, often through
those who profess to be following Jesus but who
have succumbed to one or another of Satan's many
subtle tactics. Father Randall does not
speak in generalities only but gives concrete
examples from his own experiences and those of
others to show how Satan is operating in the
world today, a world given over to the
deceptions of the devil yet a world in which the
Holy Spirit is actively engaged in combat with
the forces of darkness.

an eye-opening treatise on spiritual warfare in
